Cool Vintage Oldies Movies!

I freaking love old vintage movies from the 1960s and shit, omg. I just have to make a list. I'm gonna start with some movie suggestions, as these are movies I really loved!

So in this American Technicolor musical romantic comedy film, there's a happily married couple who gets HOMEWRECKED by a gold-digger! The gold-digging woman spreads a bunch of lies and gossip to make it seem like the husband had been cheating with her (but he hadn't been), prompting the wife, Kay, to file for divorce. Then, the gold-digger goes in for the kill and steals the husband. There are so many shocking, iconic scenes from the movie. Just check out this bitch-slap scene!

All About Eve (1950)

This movie has a home-wrecking theme too, which is so scandalous and interesting. Basically, like, Eve is an up-and-coming star (or wanna be star) who starts following around her idol, Mango Charming. But there's a twist! Eve is secretly a ruthless manipulator who uses Mango to climb the theatrical social ladder and steal her stardom. She slowly begins copying her idol's personality and even tries to steal her man! The movie has a lot of social commentary on the Entertainment industry, and overall it's just so very interesting! You can watch the FULL movie for FREE on YouTube!

Growing potted fruit trees

Growing fruit trees at home can be risky or unfeasible because of a lack of space or interfering plumbing structures that can contaminate fruit or be damaged by root growth. The solution to this might be to grow your fruit trees in very large pots instead of planting them directly in the soil, and then choosing the type of fruit tree wisely based on tree size.

Potted fruit tree ideas:

A Meyer Lemon Tree

🍋Meyer Lemon: This is the gold standard for container citrus. It stays relatively small, produces incredibly sweet-tart lemons year-round, and handles the local heat beautifully. This tree could be grown even just by placing it by a window!
Size in containers: 3-6 ft. tall

Some Kumquats

Kumquat: Specifically the "Meiwa" or "Nagami" varieties. They have deep taproots but adapt surprisingly well to large pots and are very wind-resistant. A kumquat is a small, olive-sized citrus fruit native to China that is unique because you eat it entirely whole—sweet peel and all—with a tart, tangy pulp inside. 
Size in containers: 4-8 ft. tall

A Dwarf Mango Tree

🥭Dwarf Mango (e.g., 'Pickering' or 'Cogshall'): In general, Mangoes love the coastal heat, so this might be the ideal fruit tree for you if you live in a warm climate. The 'Pickering' variety is also known as a "condo mango" because it naturally stays very compact and bushy, making it highly wind-resistant and perfect for a large planter. It grows from 6 to 10 feet tall, and its fruit grows in bundles. 
Size in containers: 4-8 ft. tall

The Killer Clowns of 2016

Does anyone remember the killer clowns of 2016? Some people think that was just promotion for the new IT movie, but that shit was totally wild.

Basically, people would dress up as killer clowns and then go hide in the woods and stalk and scare people.

The most famous sightings began in August 2016 in Greenville, South Carolina, where residents reported clowns standing near forests, allegedly trying to lure children into the woods. Aided by the rapid spread of viral videos and pictures on social media (such as Facebook and Twitter), the craze quickly snowballed. By mid-October 2016, clown sightings had been reported in nearly all 50 U.S. states, as well as in Canada, the UK, Australia, and over a dozen other countries.

While the vast majority of these incidents were harmless pranks, internet hoaxes, or cases of mass hysteria where people imagined threats, the phenomenon did have real-world consequences. Several people were arrested for making terroristic threats, chasing people, or filing false police reports.

Law enforcement agencies were flooded with calls, and in some cases, large groups of people—such as students at Penn State—formed mobs to go "clown hunting." 

Professional clowns reported losing business and being afraid to wear their costumes in public out of fear of being attacked. Even McDonald's temporarily limited the public appearances of its mascot, Ronald McDonald.

Many people initially suspected the craze was a viral marketing stunt for the 2017 remake of Stephen King's IT, but New Line Cinema explicitly denied any involvement. 

The Killer Clown 2016 craze was just the peak of a much older phenomenon. The "creepy clown" panic actually dates back decades, both as a real-world urban legend and a pop-culture trope. Oh, and also true crime, of course.

Real-Life Creepypasta: The Lepidodendron Tree

Scale trees, scientifically known as Lepidodendron, are an extinct genus of large, arborescent lycophyte plants that flourished during the Carboniferous period, during the time of the dinosaurs. The Lepidodendron is known for its strange, diamond-shaped scars on its trunk, which is why it is also known as the "scale tree." These trees covered Earth around 300 million years ago. Some grew over 100 feet tall. Eventually, these huge forests disappeared and the Lepidodendron tree went extinct millions. So, you shouldn't see one.
