Ethan announced that he was cast alongside Ariana in Wicked by posting a photo to his Instagram Story, where he tagged Ariana Grande in it. Ariana shared a photo at the same time, wearing the same pair of dancing shoes. 
January 23, 2023: Ariana and Dalton were spotted in the U.K., leaving a restaurant. Ariana is seen out in London for the first time in months with Dalton. Allegedly, around this time, Ariana Grande held Ethan and Lilly's baby and said that she wanted to be a mom too someday.
March 5, 2023: A blind item alleges that Ariana wants to leave her husband.

Mother not invited: Ariana and Ethan took his son out for a stroll in London without Lilly. Ariana was seen pushing the stroller at one point. This has been reported by several news sources.

While details about the Wicked film have been kept very under wraps, a series of photos have been released that see Grande and Slater holding each other’s arms while on set, despite their characters not touching or being romantic at all during the movie.
They can be seen sharing an intimate discussion after the cameras stop rolling. In the snap, Grande sports a lavender dress with matching Mary Jane pumps and a big bow on her head, while Slater wears a pinstripe blue suit-and-shorts set with a teal and orange shirt underneath and calf-length socks tucked into black boots.
Ariana and Ethan are photographed having an intimate discussion on the set of Wicked when the cameras were done rolling. Sources tell DailyMail.com that they were 'sloppy on set.'
Around now is the time when some of Ariana's songs got leaked, such as "Communicate" and "He Had It Coming." She admitted that her records had been stolen and published to the public in her 2024 Zach Sang interview. The "He Had It Coming" song was allegedly pre-recorded in 2020, but it's just very ironic given the scenario.
This song, "He Had It Coming," is a parody of a song from a musical called Cell Block Tango.

Jay apparently knew Grande well since she had reportedly gone on double dates with the pop star and her then-husband, Dalton Gomez. The two couples allegedly hung out together frequently.
“Ariana and Dalton went on double dates with Ethan and Lilly several times — and they were seen out by cast members," a source claimed. "Lilly and Ethan also met Ariana’s family together, including her mom and her brother."
Another source also alleges that Jay was aware of the affair but wanted to give their marriage another try. After Jay learned about the affair, she confronted Slater, and the two agreed to work on their marriage, the Daily Mail said.
Lilly Jay understood that her husband, an up-and-coming Broadway performer, was “starstruck” by Grande and bowled over by the glamour of being on a movie set with major stars for the very first time, the Daily Mail also said.

July 14, 2023: FILMING ABRUPTLY ENDS ON WICKED SET DUE TO SAG / AFTRA STRIKE
From July 14 to November 9, 2023, the American actors' union SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) was on strike over a labor dispute with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).
It's a wrap: Wicked ends filming and the set is demolished, pictured, amid the SAG / AFTRA strike. Ariana and Ethan remained in the UK.
July 16, 2023: Grande is spotted at Wimbledon without her wedding ring.
July 17, 2023: News breaks that Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez have separated.
TMZ was the first to report the news, which People quickly confirmed. TMZ sources claim the pair are “heading toward divorce,” while a source tells People that Grande and Gomez “have been quietly and lovingly working on their friendship.”
Grande deleted several photos of Gomez from her Instagram feed, though some remain.
Sources claim that Ariana felt like Dalton wasn’t giving her enough attention as she would like, which left her feeling lonely.
In a last-ditch effort to save their relationship, Dalton took a flight up to London, where Ariana Grande was filming Wicked.
July 19, 2023: Ariana Grande’s estranged husband, Dalton Gomez, reportedly isn’t handling their split very well. “Dalton has been devastated by it,” a source told US Weekly on Wednesday.
“A separation is not what he wanted. He wanted the fairy tale, happy ending, and it’s not looking that way.”
Additionally, a second source told the outlet that Gomez was hoping for a reconciliation.
“Dalton is really hoping to make things work with Ariana,” the second insider shared.

People speaking on behalf of Grande and Slater have tried to put forward the narrative that they only began dating after each had officially separated from their respective spouses, and have tried to clear up the allegations that they had affairs.
Sources spoke with People. “While this entire situation has been blown out of proportion, it’s much different than what has been portrayed in public,” an alleged friend tells the publication. “They are just trying to navigate their new relationship in private.”
Another source alleges their relationship timeline is much less scandalous than some believe.
“The truth is, Ariana and Ethan didn’t begin seeing each other until after both parties were separated, respectfully,” a “close family friend” says.
A third source says the couple (Ari & Ethan) is currently “doing their best to balance the fact that they are in the public eye with the desire to be respectful to all parties involved.”

September 6, 2023: Ethan Slater returns to Instagram with a post about his upcoming turn in the Broadway revival of Spamalot. The post is a blurry photo of his face, followed by a picture of a dog looking out the window, and then a silent clip of him and a co-star rehearsing some choreography. Comments on the post are limited, but Ariana subtly showed her support with a “like” on the post.
Ethan Slater has now also deleted all photos of his wife, Lilly Jay, from his Instagram.
September 18, 2023: Ariana officially files for divorce from Dalton Gomez.
September 19, 2023: A blind item comes out saying that Dalton will agree to lie about being separated from Ariana sooner (to make her look less like a cheater), for a payment.

October 7, 2023: Multiple publications report that Gomez and Grande have settled their divorce. According to TMZ, Gomez will receive $1,250,000 from Grande up front, as opposed to ongoing spousal support payments. A few messy things about Ariana's album, Eternal Sunshine:
- Fans have noticed that the initials of the album "Eternal Sunshine" are "E.S.", which are also Ethan Slater's initials.

March 9, 2024: Only a day after dropping her new album, Grande shares an open letter asking fans to stop sending “hateful messages” to the people in her life who may have inspired the lyrics, after fans sent hate mail to Ariana’s ex, Dalton Gomez:

Two days after her article came out on The Cut, Lilly Jay was seen for the first time since breaking the silence on her ex-husband Ethan Slater's romance with his Wicked co-star Ariana Grande. The clinical psychologist, 32, who also shares a two-year-old son with the Broadway star, stepped out for a chilly stroll in a snowy neighborhood in New Jersey while pushing their little one in a stroller.
In the essay published for The Cut on Thursday, Jay also emotionally opened up about their divorce and the 'public downfall of her marriage.' She penned about moving both herself and her then two-month-old baby boy to London while Slater filmed Wicked - before he left her for Grande after they met on the set of the movie. Lilly further reflected on how she never expected to get a divorce after tying the knot with her high school sweetheart - but emphasized both she and her ex focus on positively co-parenting their son. During her latest outing ahead of the Christmas holiday, Jay was seen bundling up in a pair of dark gray leggings as well as a gray puffer coat.
She slipped into a pair of black boots while walking along the snow-covered sidewalks and pulled back her locks into a simple bun at the back of her head. In regards to the 'sponge' analogy in the essay, the insider stated that it had been a dig at her ex. He notably played the character of SpongeBob on Broadway. The 'sponge' analogy was a subtle jab at the situation, but now that her story is out, she feels liberated. Though she was approached by nearly every media outlet, Lilly didn't want to give an interview until she was ready. She wanted to control her own narrative and tell her story on her own terms. And she did just that.

- Early 2010s: A musician and actress who goes by Ricky Valentina came forward on her TikTok claiming that Ariana Grande also took her boyfriend Christian Fortune back when they were teenagers, back in the early 2010s...
- 2012: Jai Brooks accused Ariana of cheating on him with Nathan Sykes. Ariana said he was just trying to make her look bad. She did date Nathan, but then went back to Jai, and then went back to Nathan again. Then, went to Jai. Something like that.
She talked to Mac Miller on Twitter in 2012, and in Paul Cantor’s biography released in January 2022, Mac Miller’s longtime close friend and DJ, who goes by Clockwork, says that in December of 2012, Clock went with Mac to see Ariana in the play she was starring in at the time, Snow White. According to Clockwork, Mac said they were “talking” at the time. Mac had a gf, Nomi during this.
In this video on Reddit, it's a video of Ariana livestreaming, talking to fans when her phone gets some notifications, and she visibly gets overwhelmed and excited for a bit, but doesn't say anything. Then her phone starts ringing, she picks up, and it's Mac. She puts him on speaker and he says hi. I am pretty sure this was right around when he first hit her up in 2012, maybe 1-2 weeks, max would be a month, before they did the “Baby it’s cold outside” duet.
